About Joanne Elphinston

Beginning her professional journey in Australia over thirty years ago as a physiotherapist and coach, Joanne Elphinston is a movement philosopher, performance consultant and international lecturer in rehabilitation and movement optimisation.
Joanne is the creator of the JEMS® approach, a holistic method for integrating the science and the art of movement practice. It is an approach that promotes natural movement ease and effectiveness, and is used and loved by movement practitioners around the world for the simplicity and elegance with which they can recognise and integrate biomechanics and anatomy, emotion and brain science to inspire and support their clients.
Joanne's Retreat Workshop
So many people experiencing low back pain now seek their solution in Pilates, and trust in the skills and knowledge of their teachers. This can sometimes cause us to narrow our gaze to see the spine in isolation, but in natural, normal function, our spines are so much more than structures to be controlled.
Our spines dance with our entire body structure, our emotions and how we show up in the world. They are able to dynamically withstand loads that defy the delicacy of its individual structures. They connect, communicate and support, telling embodied stories about us as we interact with the environment around us.
Join Joanne Elphinston as she shares with you her deep experience with spines, as a consultant clinician, international performance movement consultant, teacher and mentor. We will be exploring the connections between biomechanics, fascia, perception and emotion, feeling our way through layers of understanding, discovering new ways of seeing spines, and truly finding our inspiration in them.
About Kath Pentecost

I knew what I offered as a Pilates teacher had value, however, I always felt there was more potential for change than I was able to create with my clients. I had no idea that studying fascia would be the answer but once I dipped my toe into the world of fascia it was something I couldn’t unsee. I had to learn more and FAMO Fascia Movement was the perfect way to learn and embody this knew knowledge at the same time.
Since 2016 I’ve been studying fascia (FAMO in the forefront of that) and sharing it widely in classes, courses and retreats. Being a proud Educator of FAMO Fascia Movement courses for art of motion I get to share this way of moving and understanding the body with professionals and movement enthusiasts alike which is deeply exciting and motivating.
The best thing about fascia? It’s always has the capacity for change, just like we do.
